Usually the 601 looked like one of these
But more interestingly one could have got, and still can if one has a really big piggy bank, the 601 C Eclipse convertible by Pourtout. One of the various steel folding roof Peugeots before the 206, it had an electrically operated lid, which came as a surprise to Mercedes who claimed that the 1990s SLK was the first car thus equipped.
The 601 wasn’t a great success and was the company’s last big luxury car until the 604, forty-odd years later. It was the last Peugeot to have a straight six.
